CASE STUDY

Multiple Sclerosis

Darren is a 32-year-old banker referred by his Neurologist to assess whether cannabinoids can help control his symptoms secondary to relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.

Following diagnosis 3 years ago Darren’s disease process has become increasingly aggressive and unpredictable.

He has been struggling with intermittent and sporadic spasticity in the muscles of his lower limbs and back, episodic tremors of the chin and hands and generalised, fluctuating, numbness and tingling. Often painful tremors and spasms have made it difficult for him to sleep and his ability to do usual tasks has declined.

Darren is in the process of making difficult decisions around his future employment and requests consideration of cannabis to aid symptom control.
