He had a work-related lumbar back injury 20 years ago and has mild to moderate osteoarthritic changes in his knees, shoulders and lumbosacral spine on imaging.

His medical history includes reflux, episodes of gout, hypertension and type two diabetes. Although Robert gave up smoking a few years ago he continues to drink a few alcoholic drinks most days and has a very sedentary lifestyle. He weighs 97kgs with a target weight for his height of between 80 and 87kgs.

Robert lives with his wife. They have two adult children and his main interest is watching sport on television. He used to be a proud gardener and like fishing but finds that his knee, shoulder and back pain prevents him from enjoying his hobbies.
